Interim Head of Testing and QA – Retail


We are currently looking for an interim manager to help a retail client drive forward the creation of a respected testing service (functional and non-functional) encompassing people, process and tools, including
 
  • Design and implement a QA framework and methodology across all development teams
  • Enforce usage and adoption of the QA quality framework and methodology across all development teams
  • To continually develop and enhance the QA capability internally and with suppliers
  • Establish a reliable QA estimation methodology and framework for use on all projects


 
The successful candidate will be able to offer

  • Strong experience of formal methodologies like V-Model, Agile, Waterfall, DSDM, Prince 2 and with detailed knowledge of both manual and automated testing (e.g. JUnit; Mercury test tools; Rational test tools), and best practices (e.g. CMMI, BS7925, IEEE). 
  • Awareness of market trends.
  • Strong experience in designing and implementing a QA framework and automation test bed
  • Experience of maturing test processes, making strategic / tactical recommendations and working with key business stakeholders, forging new relationships and communication channels as required
  • Strong experience setting up contracts with and managing Testing Managed Service Providers
  • Wide ranging experience across many technical platforms with a high level understanding of IT architecture, design, operational service & support
  • Broad commercial perspective and understands how IT contributes to the overall picture
  • Proactively reflects and challenges when results aren't being achieved and addresses areas requiring resolution.  Coaches others to recognise barriers to success and enables others to manage these issues
  • Enables team to work collaboratively with a range of people to support the wider business agenda
  • Enables team to stretch, develop and reach their full potential through setting challenging but realistic performance standards, providing suitable opportunities, and through facilitating answers to questions (instead of giving them)
  • Energises and leads the team through enabling them to see how their work impacts the business results and ensuring they remain informed on relevant business information
  • Coaches others to translate complex/technical issues clearly to meet the competency level of the audience
  • Removes barriers to both enable others to develop new ideas that will address areas requiring development and also enables these opportunities to be appropriately heard
